Your brand is invisible in AI search if you’re not on these 8 channels

AI search is changing the rules for how companies are found online – and most Swedish companies are not prepared. While traditional SEO is still about ranking on Google, AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini build their answers from an entirely different ecosystem of sources. If your brand isn’t visible in the right channels, you will be completely invisible when your potential customers ask questions to AI.

The problem with putting everything on one channel

A new study from Profound, which analysed over 680 million AI citations, shows how concentrated AI visibility actually is: the 15 most cited domains accounted for a full 68% of the total citation share. Reddit alone drives approximately 40% of all citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews – but putting everything on Reddit is just as risky as previously relying solely on organic Google.

Even more revealing: only 11% of all domains are cited by both ChatGPT and Perplexity. This means that visibility in one AI engine does not automatically give visibility in another. In addition, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode share only 13.7% of their URLs, despite providing similar types of answers. The conclusion is clear – you must build presence across multiple channels in parallel.

The 8 channels you must dominate

1. Reddit (~40% of all AI citations) Reddit is the most cited platform of all. To make an impact, being active is not enough – you must write extractable comments. The formula is simple: start with a direct answer, add a data point or a framework, explain in 2–3 sentences and close with a concrete suggestion. That is exactly the format that AI engines pick up.

2. YouTube (~16% of all AI responses) YouTube outperformed Reddit in Q1 2026 and appears in approximately 16% of all AI-generated responses. The important thing to understand is that AI does not watch your videos – it reads the transcripts. Place the most important content early, use chapter markers, repeat your brand name and key terms, and make sure transcripts are accurate.

3. LinkedIn (14.3% of all ChatGPT responses) LinkedIn is the big surprise of 2026. In February 2026, LinkedIn was the fifth most cited domain by ChatGPT – up from eleventh place in November 2025. LinkedIn is now the most cited domain among the six largest AI engines for professional queries, and appears in 14.3% of all ChatGPT responses. Take your LinkedIn articles and company pages seriously.

4. Wikipedia (26–48% of ChatGPT’s top-10 citations) Wikipedia accounts for between 26 and 48% of ChatGPT’s most frequent citations. Most companies will not get their own Wikipedia page, but it is possible to work towards being mentioned in relevant industry articles. Warning: never create a page for marketing purposes – it will backfire.

5. Review sites (3x higher chance of appearing in ChatGPT) G2, Trustpilot, Capterra and Yelp triple your chances of appearing in ChatGPT responses. G2 has an AI citation share of 2.09% for lower-funnel B2B SaaS queries. Claim all your profiles, fill them in completely and work actively to generate reviews on an ongoing basis. The language your reviewers use becomes your AI citation footprint.

6. Quora (4x more AI citations) Domains with a lot of Quora content receive four times more AI citations. Quora is cited particularly frequently by Google AI Overviews. Use the same comment structure as for Reddit: direct answer, data, explanation, recommendation.

7. Trade press and journalism (27% of all AI citations) Trade publications and news media account for 27% of all AI citations – and as much as 49% for time-sensitive queries. Identify the three trade publications in your industry with the highest AI citation volume. A well-placed quote in the right article can earn you citations for years to come.

8. Owned content (44.2% of LLM citations from the first 30% of a page) ChatGPT only cites 15% of the websites it actually visits. Structure matters more than quality. Make clear statements, use definitive language, add summary boxes and make sure the first sentence of each section is citable. The statistics are clear: 44.2% of all LLM citations are drawn from the first third of a page.

The loop strategy – how to multiply your visibility

The smart approach is to let the channels amplify each other. Build a citation loop that looks like this:

Reddit comment → pillar post on your site → LinkedIn article → YouTube video → pitch to trade press → mention on Wikipedia

Each step creates an independent citation signal on its respective platform. The same insight – the same message – is distributed in a way that maximises the probability of AI engines picking it up, regardless of which source they happen to prioritise right now.

What does this mean for Swedish companies?

Swedish companies are in a unique position. The Swedish market is small, which means that competition for AI citations within many industries is still limited. This is a window of opportunity that is closing fast. At the same time, it means that a relatively modest effort on the right channels can yield disproportionately large visibility in AI responses targeting Swedish users and decision-makers.

But it requires that you know where you stand today. Which channels are already being cited? How does AI describe your brand? Is your website even readable by AI engines? Without answers to these questions, you risk investing resources in the wrong places.

At Kaistone, we are Sweden’s leading experts in AEO (AI Engine Optimization) and help Swedish companies understand and improve their visibility in AI-powered search engines. Our service Kaistone AI Audit is a structured three-step analysis:

Summary

AI search is no longer the future – it is now. The brands that build visibility in the right channels today will dominate AI-generated responses tomorrow. Reddit is the starting point, but not the whole answer. YouTube, LinkedIn, review sites, Quora, trade press, Wikipedia and your own content all play a decisive role. Build your loop, secure your profiles and structure your content to be citable.
